Frequently asked questions
I have another question
Didn’t find what you were looking for? Feel free to send me an email at alanah@alanah-reynor.com or book a call with me on the contact page.
There’s a lot of choice out there, but ultimately you want to find someone who will work well with you. You want someone who you get on well with, who asks the right questions and who makes suggestions based on their expertise. You want someone who is specialised in your area of work. Feel free to contact me for a discovery call to see if I’m the right fit for you.
Once we have discussed the scope, goals and specifics of your project, I will provide you with a no-strings quote for my work. I may request a 50% deposit upfront with the rest to be paid upon completion of the project, within 30 days of invoice.
The duration of the project is something we will discuss during our initial contact. It largely depends on the content, length and complexity. If you have a deadline in mind, be sure to let me know and I’ll see what I can do.
My process varies for each client and their needs but, in general, it looks something like this.
Step 1 – Initial contact. We discuss the scope and objectives of your project and how I can bring value to the table.
Step 2 – Confirmation. Once you’ve received all the information you need, you confirm if you want to go ahead with the project.
Step 3 – The project starts. I get to writing or translating. If I need any further details from you or come across any roadblocks, I’ll get in touch. For a long-term project, I’ll contact you at predetermined moments to update you on progress.
Step 4 – Delivery. I’ll send you the initial product of my work.
Step 5 – Review. If you have any comments or suggestions, send them back to me so I can tweak the project to fit exactly what you need.
Step 6 – Final delivery. I send you the revised project which incorporates the best of our combined knowledge and expertise. Any questions? I’m still just an email away.
No. In order to provide the best quality, I only translate into my mother tongue: English. However, if you need translations into another language, feel free to get in touch. I can reach out to my network of trusted colleagues to find someone who can get the job done for you.
Translation is an unregulated profession, but that’s not to say that you have to take a risk when deciding who to work with. That’s one of the reasons why I decided to become an associate member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting.
In order to be accepted as a member, I had to comply with strict entrance criteria, providing evidence and references pertaining to my experience as a translator. In doing so, I also agreed to abide by the ITI’s Code of Professional Conduct. My membership requires me to engage regularly in continuous professional development to improve my translation skills and subject-specific knowledge.
By choosing a member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting, you can be sure that you are working with a professional who is committed to providing consistent high-quality translations. If you have any other questions about what this membership means, check out the ITI website or drop me an email.
